John George Memorial Scholarship Application
One (1) scholarship of $2000 may be awarded annually to a qualified and selected applicant from one of the SCUSD high schools: Mission Early College, New Valley, Santa Clara, Wilcox and Wilson.
Qualifications
All graduating Santa Clara Unified School District seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply. Student must be planning to enroll full time at an accredited 4-year college or university for the upcoming fall term. The scholarship may not be deferred by the recipient.
Application Deadline
The application must be submitted by March 31 of each year.

In order to be considered, applications must include the following:
• Completed Online Application Form;
• Current Unofficial Transcript (attach as a PDF);
• Letter of Recommendation from a Guidance Counselor, Teacher, Coach or other adult who knows you personally (attach as a Microsoft Word document); and
• Responses to BOTH essay questions below (attach as a Microsoft Word document).
Essay Question #1: Discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart from other well-qualified applicants (250 words or less).
Essay Question #2: If you had the authority to change your community in a positive way, what specific changes would you make and why? (500 words or less).

All decisions are at the complete discretion of the Santa Clara Schools Foundation Scholarship Award Committee. Recipients will be notified of final decision by June of each year. Official proof of enrollment / registration from the institution must be received by 10/31 to claim the reward.
