Fiscal Sponsorship of schools, booster clubs, PTAs, and PTSAs
Sometimes groups need to handle money, which can include taking credit card payments, depositing and writing checks, making purchases, and providing tax deduction letters to donors. Additionally, many school organizations experience frequent changes in leadership, which makes it difficult to establish and maintain consistent policies and practices. For those organizations that have the infrastructure in place and it’s working well, there’s really no major need to partner with SCSF. However, many organizations do not have that infrastructure in place, and that’s where SCSF can help. We offer two Fiscal Sponsorship options, described below.

FAQs
What happens when we get our own 501(c)(3) status and want to manage this on our own?
SCSF transfers all the funds to you, wishes you well, and offers to help if anything comes up.
Couldn’t we just do this ourselves?
Sure, if you have the time, energy, and right people and systems involved. Groups that partner with us are working towards building capacity to handle things on their own but they don't see much point in holding off on accepting donations.
If we partner with you, do you get a say in how we run our organization?
No. We can handle many aspects of managing the finances, but we do not want to be involved in your voting, decision-making, or choices. The obvious caveat, however, is that we won’t support anything illegal or anything that violates district policies.
What do the service fees cover?
Website, payment processor, staff, bookkeeping software, bank fees, credit card fees, printing, postage, checks, tax preparation fees, tax letters, and similar costs.
Is there a formal MOU to sign?
We don’t require it, but if your group would feel more comfortable with one, we are happy to oblige.
What's the next step?
